Fostex T90A Horn Super Tweeter Review
The Fostex T90A is an external top-mount horn super tweeter with a frequency response that extends to 35 kHz. The T90A super tweeter has a very high sensitivity, rated at 106dB / 1W / 1m. The nominal impedance of the tweeter is 8 ohms and the T90A tweeter is very easy to drive with small amplifiers. The horn super tweeter uses large 100g alnico magnet. You can get a good idea of the build quality just by holding the tweeters which weigh in at a hefty 800 g (1.75 lbs) each. The Fostex T90A horn super tweeter is manufactured in Japan.

The Fostex T90A Horn Super Tweeter came neatly packaged in a cardboard box. Included with the horn super tweeter is a well constructed top-mount wooden stand.

The build quality of the Fostex T90A horn super tweeter is superb. The super tweeter is "airy" and very crisp with a frequency response that extends way out beyond the audible range. Provided that a crossover point in-excess of about 7 kHz is used, the performance is excellent. If you are looking for a high performance super tweeter, the T90A will do the trick. Be sure to experiment with the positioning of the super tweeter as this will affect the sound. If you need a tweeter which mounts to an enclosure, or a lower cost tweeter for rear firing, consider the Fostex FT96H horn super tweeter.

From the Fostex T90A datasheet, a crossover point of 7 kHz or greater is recommended. For a crossover, we have had good results using a simple first-order crossover (one capacitor) operating in the 10 to 14 kHz range. The tweeter sensitivity is very high, so you cab use an L-Pad attenuator to match the tweeter level to your speakers.
