I think I'm, going to buy this DAC from eBay:

What I was wondering is if there are things on this board that I could change to improve the sound at a minimal cost. I'm currently a student so to say money is tight is an understatement. I've just recently discovered DIY and DAC's and I love music so I'm trying to find the cheapest way possible to improve my sound. I'm very competent with computers as I build mine when I do upgrade, but when it comes to actual circuitry/boards I have no idea what's going on. I'm pretty sure heating up a soldering iron and removing/inserting caps/res/chips is not beyond my skill level though. So does anyone know of parts that can be easily replaced on this that would improve the sound?

replace opamp and bypass the 7812 7912 big caps with 47-100nf,also the small receiver chip capacitor- it will make it not to oscilate
replace opamp with something biger than 130db snr and cmr

i actually tryed it on this 2496 and it can give you decent sound but only this way,original design is flawed
