Some years ago I bought a Philips CD723 for a tenner from a lady in Edinburgh and then spent £30 on modifying it. It sounded a lot better after the mods, details on the Decibel Dungeon site.
Last year I started making my own CD's and every time I put one in the little readout thingy said.
"This disc has not been finalised" with monotonous regularity. So I put those words into Google to see if anyone else was having a bit of trouble.
They were! One solution offered was to buy a cheap cd/dvd player and the poster intimated that these new things were umpteen times better than most CD players. Hmmm! I thought and stuck one of my 'unplayable' discs into our dvd recorder, it played it!
Well I went to Argos and paid £32 for a Lucky Goldstar one. It makes my CD723 look like Monty Python's Parrot sketch. I was astonished - still am.
