Those are very strange amplifiers indeed, red plates on a couple of them! :hot: They have a very classic basic layout, the simplicity of his layout makes them look very robust and well built, indeed quite bare looking but again a different construction approach.

I would love to just gather one or two of each amplifier from different builders and mach up each amplifier with the each room in the house, and create a museum of tube art.

Dave, an audiophile friend of mine is about to purchase these monoblocks. They cost around AU$5K for the pair. I don't like the lumber on the side. It looks like an after thought. Any others agree??

If they had made the bottom bit out of that wood and has matte black 'accessories' it may have been a bit more acceptable but...

 If I was paying that much for an amp I would expect to have huge banks of funky looking tubes, and capacitors terminated with real leprechaun hair, I mean AUD$5k for a set of monoblocks that look like small robot creatures?!?!

But then I dont have AUD$5k to spend on a set of tube amps :P

Just an update on the amp purchase - it did go ahead. Now he has the task of breaking them in 100hours+. On another 845 SET amp he has the power tranni runs very hot. This one they run cool.

The other SET was AU$3.5K and is a Dared. Now what to do with the first??

I have spoken to a very good young engraver who is willing to engrave the whole top plate of an amp of mine. We have not talked of price so it still may not go ahead.

What I am thinking is engraving on a black top plate which will come through as silver in colour from the Al below.
