Hi all,
I'm collecting bit and pieces to make a tube preamp. It might be a
Universal Preamp from Matt or an
Aikido from John, I'm not sure yet. I have got a large stash of 6SN7 NOS so if I can get an octal PCB from John that would do it, sadly for now not available.
For my preamp, I will probably buy an aluminum enclosure large enough to host all goodies (PSU, remote control boards for input selection and volume control, amp pcb, etc) and separate them with appropriate shielding. The enclosure will have a front panel of about 40x13 cm.
I have ordered this
Color LCD touchscreen VU meter from sch-remote.com. I like the idea of having something super-modern in front of a tube preamp.

I would like to afix it in the middle of the front-panel (will be precise laser-cut), so 4 screws and spacers would do it, but having screws near this nice display is somewhat ugly...
An idea I have is gluing screws or spacers nuts to the back of the front-panel using epoxy (I'm hacking boat stuff as well so I know how), with the screws towards the inside, where the evor display will be screwed onto. The mechanical efforts are small (touch-screen) so I'm sure it would be ok. Any other idea welcome...
Regards,
Charles
