Post subject:  Need help using AUD1B to control power to sub

SUMMARY
I recently purchased an AUD1B ic and intended to connect it to an SSR to automatically turn on my subwoofer when the main amp plays music. However, I have found the AUD1B is constantly sensing signal from the main amp (even when not playing music) and is therefor leaving the sub powered on.

DETAIL
I am an avid Sonos user. I have an old sonos amp and have connected a separate powered subwoofer to it via the sub out rca. It is a bother having to remember to turn on/off the sub after each use. My intention is to use an AUD1B audio signal detector on one of the line outs in order to sense when the amp is playing music and therefor, having the output of the AUD1B drive a solid state relay to "turn on" the sub woofer by switching on power to the mains plug it is plugged into.

The problem I am running into is that the Sonos must provide enough signal even when not playing music to cause the AUD1B to detect signal and therefor trigger the SSR. I am wondering if there is a basic circuit, hopefully as simple as a resistor or similar, that I can use to make the AUD1B less sensitive to the input signal. (This is not a matter of adjusting the knob to change the delay time... I understand how that works to delay the "off" cycle. I am trying to better control the "on" trigger.)

As it is right now, I have followed the basic wiring diagram of the AUD1B with Vcc, GND, Vo and signal input. Signal input is directly to the line level output of the amp.

Sonos Amp (ZP100) found at: https://www.cnet.com/products/sonos-zoneplayer-zp100/specs/

Sub is just a generic powered subwoofer connected to the subwoofer out of the ZP100 amp.

Any help is appreciated. Or, if there is a simpler way to achieve what I am trying to do, I am open to any and all suggestions. Thank you.

So after doing a little more work on this. I ended up using a common ground between signal and the AUD1B power. That did the trick. It now functions as expected. These are very easy chips to work with and do a nice job when paired with an appropriate SSR. Everything fits inside a one gang outlet box and I am good to go. Auto power control for a sub that did not have that feature built in.
