I've been lurking here for awhile, so figured I may as well post up an intro.
I started messing around with tubes around 10 years ago, as something to keep me occupied during the winter when it was too cold to play in the garage.
Zero backround in electronics, but decided to dive right in. Built an overdrive pedal for guitar, turned out rubbish and went into the parts bin. Then I ordered a Fender Deluxe amp kit and put that together. It turned out rubbish as well. From that point I realized I should (A) Learn how to solder properly and (B) Have some sort of understanding of what I was doing.
Fast forward to today. I still don't really know what I am doing, but have managed to build some tube projects that turned out fairly decent.
Armed with a new Weller soldering station my kids got me for Christmas, I cobbled together a 4S preamp and a version of the Lacewood V2 this month, and I couldn't be happier.
This is a great forum, and I have learned a lot here so far.
Hope to be able to contribute to it someday.

Cheers,
Shawn
