Read this article first then you will have grasp on what I’m about.

https://www.stereophile.com/content/gra ... lar-system

I’m constructing my own SC system, mono of course and with all tube gear. Speakers will be my two 511B horns With FaitalPro drivers and Beyma 12” concentrics in a mono set up. The horns for mids and Beymas for bass and super tweeter.

Amp is under construction and is a mono 807 triode strapped. Other tubes are an 80 rec. tube and 6SN7 preamp and driver using one tube. Another wine box amp and once more stained and spray lacquered. Looks and feels definitely brought up from the cellar.

See images of amp assembled not wired and a raw wine box.

If you are a member of Stereonet Australia you can see more info here. If your not a member they do have a good DIY thread. Could be worth joining.

Amp section now complete. Pot is after the preamp section feeding the driver stage.

I wonder if Suncalc will recognise the knob used on the Salt Cellar amp?

I'm surprised you don't call this your "Reserve Salt Cellar" amp. :D

I’ll take that as “yes” you recognise the knob. Lol. I have a few more.

Here is a variation on a theme by Woodford.

Matt, if you were to make a Salt Cellar triode mono amp, what tube would you pick. I went for the 807 because a friend gave me a few when I had my 807 and I wantEd a tube with a top cap to fit in with the SC initiative. And the TC tubes look cool.

After fixing a dozen problems (some my fault but also failing parts) it plays sou d loud and good on the 98db Meymas. Yet to mount the now tweaked PS inside. There is an external Tranni brd connected by a 12pin multi connector.
