Thanks, yes there is some disagreement on TS parameters. The manufacturer should know. I did 2 years of French at school age 13 and 14. Alas all I learnt has been forgotten. My daughter spent 7 months in Burgundy studying science subjects (sorry to murder the language) and is quite the French (and Spanish) speaker. Yes also, that looks like my TLs! Good to see they still exist. They are heavy though - need a trolley.

Do you have an inductance figure for the Triangle? Le in mH

Looking a bit better with 8g/L stuffing and assuming 0.18mH inductance but result not much better than infinite baffle. Horn Response plots similarly.

No, unfortunately. But maybe I could measure it with my LCR meter though...

2 years of learning French : not so bad, moreover at 13-14 year... The basis has been done, and maybe just need to be reactivated : you would be suprised ! ;)

Your daughter studied science in Bourgogne - Well fine ! - and if she was at the university, she probably stayed in Chalon-sur-Saône, Dijon, Beaune maybe Vesoul, Dole, Auxerre, Montbéliard, Besançon or even Belfort ? The Bourgogne - Franche-Comté region is quite wide (at the scale of France, OK ? :) ).

I'm located close to Lyon (south of Bourgogne = Rhône-Alpes (Alps) region.

OK. I see. Was it simulated in your 32L box configuration ? Or was it a classic TQWT/TL design ?

I make a copy of your simulation, and will compare with what I have with my bassreflex box when my spreaker software and measurement rig will be operative.

Sorry I may have misinterpreted I tried to model the TQWT 49L box. I will try your driver in the 32L box too and the MLTL for interest. I might pm you the results so as not to go OT here. BTW lovely photos of your home city. I admire how Europe takes pride in their planning, architecture and culture. I wish we could adopt a similar approach as our landscape is turning into something from the matrix.

I re-read MJK guidelines about volume and he recommends a volume of 1-1.5 * Vas. I guess one could optimise box volume. 50L may be a good match for the T17FL2?

See also this link for a 12 inch driver in a TQWT http://diyaudioprojects.com/Speakers/Fo ... 0-ML-TQWT/ This was sim’d using MJKs software. Looks good down to 50hz flat. Unfortunately seems software is not available to diy now.

The T17FL2 appears to like a larger enclosure and tuned to lower than Fs.

Exactly, @woodo - no surprise... ;)

You confirm what I experienced in the 80s when I bought these T17FL2.

That's why I re-tuned my boxes at 35Hz (SV = 50.3cm2, LV = 32.0cm, VB = 32L). I also generously completed the stuffing inside with 10cm thick cotton wool matress, creating some kind of labyrinth between the back of the speaker and the port openings :

These enclosures can give a deep bass extension without boomy-lousy sound thanks to their placement in corners, nor middle internal resonances coming from the vents or through the speaker cone thanks to the internal stuffing.

At least, it's an acceptable compromise ! :D

I am trialling the addition of a BSC with a 1 mH inductor and 4R resistor. I have 2 and 3 ohm resistors as well to try if necessary. So far enjoying what I’m hearing. Sound is somewhat more balanced. Initially I thought it changed the focussed imaging that I quite like with this amp and speaker combination. That feeling seems to have passed and seems fine.

Hi Woodo,

What you call BSC is a Baffle Step Compensation speaker (I guess) or a Zobel network ?

I think that this device (that I never experimented though) may be useful to my T17FL2 32L boxes we spoke about some posts ago - at least, it would be worth an easy to test in order to see if there is any improvement ! ;)

In fact, the T17FL2 shows a litte coquetterie in the high-mid / treble region - well... Acceptable, yes - but that I could nonetheless try to correct by this BSC trick... :|

Can you tell me more about what you are experimenting about ?
