In relation to my last post,

I have to add about the Night of the demon, I have watched that film many times over the years (the first time when quite young it frightened the life out of me :D ) and I noticed there is always something I missed.

NB the Curse of the Demon is a short version of the film done I think for drive in movies which missed the strange interaction with the country folk,
Anyway the film is old now and special effects are pants. But I would hate to see an attempt at a remake.
Anyway back to topic the film is very spooky through the tube amp, as is the black and white BBC series version of Quatermass and the pit.
There seems to be an atmosphere with some of these old films. Could it be the equipment it was recorded on? ref the post about one mic recording.

Regards
M. Gregg

Playing Fashion Nugget by Cake, a US outfit if not mistaken. Sounding great. Were popular in Aust some years back for the distance and their version of I will survive both on this Album. Good rhythm section, some trumpet I think and interesting lyrics. https://youtu.be/Fw5QFXJKSHA

I’ve been wary of cover albums usually preferring the original artist. it’s hard to tell sometimes when your favourite artist has covered a great song before your time or not known to you. I love Peter Gabriel’s music whether a part of Genesis or not. But this album of his songs interpreted by others is worth a listen especially Games without frontiers by Arcade Fire, Salisbury Hill by Lou Reed, Mother of Violence by Eno. I have a lossless version from Society of Sound before they folded. I think they are pretty common. youtbe version here. https://youtu.be/VL-_vqY9xE4.

Humble Pie, "I Believe to my Soul", off of the "Definitive Collection" album. This is some of Ray Charles best Soul writing.

YouTube Version.

Also, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, "Not Fragile (Quad Mix)", off of "The Anthology" album. Good track to really test the bass response of your system. One of the most solid bass lines in my whole collection.

YouTube Version

Bachman Turner Overdrive had a few popular singles on the radio here. But I didn’t get to hear many of the other songs on the album at the time. They’re quite accomplished musicians. That bass guitar is certainly hitting some low notes.

More Khruangbin,

KEXP full session:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyWhFB9ijzA

Just love some of their music.
I have it up quite loud via the M7 look make alike :D and the SEP.
Couple of pints of Spitfire and I'm lost in paradise.
The "Third Room" is interesting.

Lady and man the sudden hit in the phrasing is just ACE.
The effects are used to great effect.

Live session with different take:

I like Guitar and the way its used in this music (I play) so I guess if you play you realise how difficult it is to phrase music.

Regards
M. Gregg

A good discovery M.Gregg. The name has a Thai sound and I wondered whether they have a Thai connection. Maybe a coincidence. In the KEXP interview they did mention they have played there. I wonder whether some of the folk music is influencing some of their Material. Look forward to hearing more.
