SV101647.JPGOPA2134 Inside the Chip amp preamp II4207 viewsYou can see how compact the boards are. The yellow caps are MPX 0.47uF and 220uF low ESR electrolytics store power from the voltage divider network (virtual ground). Computer stand-off keep the brds. off the case and are fitted with rubber grommets to control cct. resonance and vibration. More details are available at the DIY OPA2134PA Preamplifier Project page.

K281FrontS.jpgOatley Electronics sub-mini tube/chip amp hybrid K2814070 viewsAn image of the front panel of the Oatley Electronics of Australia tube and chip hybrid power amp. You can see the UV leds which indicate when the amp modules are powered. The amp comprises two K281 kits and is dual mono construction.
After extensive listening I am convinced this is a very good combination of tubes and chip in one integrated power amp. Sound stage in deep with each performer or instrument have their own space on that stage. Holographic.

DSCF0794-C.JPGDIY-GENE Mark Levinson Clone 60Watt Class A Amplifier4687 viewsFor those that are less willing to create their own cases. Here is a completed DIY-GENE Mark Levinson Clone 60Watt / Ch Dual Mono Amplifier. It is hernia inducing weighing in at nearly 50Kg. The kit comes with most of the amplifier electronics built and tested and with all the casing components. All you need to do is to build the PSUs and put it all together. This example has 2 x 65-0-65V at 10A each. It runs very HOT as you would expect a high output Class A amplifier to run. Great care must be taken to mount the 12 x Output Transistors correctly, a small mistake cost me over £60.00 in burnt components. Note the Capacitor connections and the extremely BEEFY PSU.

DIY-6AS7-Tube-Headphone-Amplifier.jpgDIY 6AS7 Tube Headphone Amplifier6524 viewsMy name is Laurie. I have been building and DIYing for 45 years now and happily will never stop. This tube headphone amp is from a thread in the Form.
The power connecting cable comes from a European Travel Iron I bought for $1.00 at junk shop. (220v/6A) They will be shortened when I find a perch for the amp and me. The sound is better than my ears have ever heard so I will be keeping this one for my retirement entertainment should such a time ever come. Wink It has worked from day one and continues to please me every time it is turned on. The tubes are JJ ECC88 / 6AS7 with a 5V4 rectifier tube. To spite it's small size the parts are quite easily accessed. I over built most components so it will outlast me I fear. The only change I anticipate may be the 6AS7 to a bottle neck glass to match the rectifier tube. I do have and use a 6080 tube, but i can tell no difference in sound. It will take more then a few hours of listening to get my ears better tuned.Feb 28, 2017

4-channel-400W-amplifier.jpg 4 channel, 400 W amplifier5198 viewsThis 4-channel 400 W amplifier uses Hypex UcD400HG modules together with the corresponding power supply.
The whole is mounted inside a Galaxy 330 x 230 x 80 case.
For building instructions, have a look at this project's wiki.
Two such amplifiers has been working for over 2 years in my lounge, driving Linn Komponent 110 loudspeakers which each have 4 speaker inputs.

E88CC-SV83-SET-Amplifiers.jpgDual SV83 SET Amplifiers5363 viewsA mirrored pair of SET amplifiers, presently being used in bridged mode. All P2P construction using silver solder. I included a "Hazen grid" capacitor and input tube bias change switch. The single mA meter displays individual output tube bias current with a Left/Right switch. Edcor XPRW178 power transformer and GXSE10-6-8K output transformers. Upgraded caps to Jantzen Audio 1200V Z-Superior. Upgraded resistors to PRP PR9372 Audio for metal film and TAKMAN REX for carbon film. ALPS Blue 100K attenuator. The power supply uses a RCA 5U4GB rectifier and Hammond 156R choke. Matched pairs of Svetlana SV83 for power and JJ E88CC for the input tube.

6V6-Push-Pull-Amplifier.jpgPush-Pull (PP) 6V6GT Tube Amplifier4399 viewsThis 6V6 amp was built following the DIY Push-Pull (PP) 6V6 / 6V6GT Tube Amplifier Schematic. Power Supply transformer and Output transformers are handmade in Argentina by NavasBaccino. I'd like to thank Brad S. for the help. The sound is amazing and clear, free of distortion.
